Call the Utilities Protection Center (UPC) before you dig -- there could be electric lines, phone wires or cables buried in the area. They'll provide you with information about what might be in your area.

You may see colored flags in your area whenever a professional is conducting a digging, grading or excavating project. Here's what the colors mean:

White - Proposed Excavation
Pink - Temporary Survey Markings
Red - Electric Power Lines, Cables, Conduit and Lighting Cables
Yellow - Gas, Oil, Steam, Petroleum or Gaseous Materials
Orange - Communication, Alarm or Signal Lines, Cables or Conduit
Blue - Potable Water
Purple - Reclaimed Water, Irrigation and Slurry Lines
Green - Sewers and Drain Lines
