YOU have the power to help the environment by purchasing just one block of green power!

Green power is electricity that comes from renewable, more environmentally friendly sources like wind, solar, geothermal, biomass and low-impact hydropower energy.

Through Green Power EMC, Carroll EMC, along with more than 30 other EMCs in Georgia, offers members the opportunity to support cleaner, renewable energy to supply a portion of their electric needs.   

Georgia EMCs were the first in Georgia to invite our members to choose how some of their electricity is produced.  Since inception, Green Power EMC has generated over 100 million kilowatt-hours of green energy, providing the same environmental benefits as taking 100,000 cars off Georgia's roads, or planting 135,000 acres in trees.  Check out the green power report card to see how we're doing!

Green power can be purchased for only $5 per month (which is added to your electric bill).  It's available in "blocks" of 150 kilowatt-hours, enough to operate a refrigerator for one month. 

Green power is also giving something back to the community.  Part of the cost of each green power kilowatt-hour generated goes into a research and development fund, a portion of which has been used to fund the Sun Power for Schools program.  Through the program, participating schools around the state will receive photovoltaic and metering equipment that will enable students to study solar power generation and incorporate their unit's output data in classroom projects.
