Walter Harrison Scholarship
The prestigious Walter Harrison Scholarship, sponsored by the EMCs in Georgia, is awarded based on academic achievement and financial need. Nine $1,000 scholarships will be awarded throughout Georgia from the Walter Harrison Scholarship fund, which is administered by Georgia Southern University in Statesboro. Carroll EMC selects one semifinalist from its service area to compete at the state level.
The $1,000 award can be used at any accredited two-or four-year university, college, or vocational-technical institute in Georgia. Applicants must reside in the household of a Carroll EMC Member or Carroll EMC employee, and show proof of enrollment in an accredited undergraduate program, either full-time or part-time.
Harrison was known in Georgia and across the nation as "Mr. Rural Electrification" for his pioneering efforts in the electric cooperative industry and for his lifelong dedication to improving life in rural areas.

Lerlie and Millard Copeland Scholarship
The Lerlie and Millard Copeland Scholarship, sponsored by the University of West Georgia (UWG), is awarded based on academic achievement and financial need. The $800 award is to be used by children of Carroll EMC members or employees.
The Copeland family established the scholarship in memory of Millard Copeland, who was a well-known, long-time board member of Carroll EMC.
